VB Spine to acquire Augmedics’ augmented reality navigation tech

LEESBURG, VA – February 17, 2026 – VB Spine announced today that it agreed to acquire exclusive rights to the Xvision Spine System from Augmedics.

The acquisition adds augmented reality (AR) navigation to the VB Spine visualization portfolio.

Augmedics’ Xvision Spine System uses AR to give surgeons “X-ray vision” during surgery. The system superimposes critical data onto the surgical field, allowing surgeons to visualize patient anatomy through the skin and tissue.

Xvision Spine System offers an aid for precisely locating anatomical structures in either open, minimally invasive or percutaneous spine procedures. Augmedics most recently earned FDA clearance for a next-generation AR headset for the platform in November 2025.

The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions. The companies expect it to close in the coming weeks.

VB Spine continues to add to its portfolio, following its acquisition of Stryker’s spinal implants business last year. The company also added a Stryker manufacturing facility in France. It then acquired AI-powered surgical visualization technology from Robotron Surgical in January.

Commentary from VB Spine and Augmedics officials

Marc Viscogliosi, co-CEO of VB Spine, said: “We have long admired the xvision technology and potential of the platform. We believe with our implant integration and scale, we have the ability to harness the true potential of AR navigation. Combined with the SpineHawk platform, this will expand our existing spine solutions and supports our long-term roadmap to redefine spine care with differentiated technologies.”

Paul Ziegler, president and CEO of Augmedics, said: “We are proud of the clinical impact xvision has made in spine surgery and VB Spine’s commitment to our world-class portfolio. This agreement will strengthen our competitive advantage as an augmented reality innovation engine as we turn our focus to expanding our reach into adjacent surgical indications.”
